Antonia Schirmer has been supporting our redRobin team since the beginning of the year. Over a cup of latte, our colleague told us why a fire emoji best describes her internship with us and how she deals with writer's block.
redRobin: Hey Antonia, you have been with redRobin since the beginning of the year. How was your start?
Antonia: Really cool. However, the first week was pretty intense: my team was aked with setting up a marketing campaign for an asset manager. I was immediately involved, helped with the conception and then attended my first customer appointment. Those were intense days, but also a lot of fun. Social media, marketing, conception – these are simply things I enjoy.
What makes redRobin stand out?
My colleagues are simply great. I would say it is a highly efficient, but still fun, charismatic team. You can joke around, but when it comes to customer projects, everyone is very professional and committed. I really enjoy working with the team.
How would you describe your traineeship as an emoji?
Definitely the fire emoji. As my generation would say today when they think something is fantastic and has potential: My traineeship is lit!
What do you find appealing about PR – and financial PR in particular?
I'm communicative by nature, that just suits me. I also enjoy writing and editing texts – that's where my inner German teacher comes through (laughs). After my studies, I first worked at Wintershall Dea and then in the communications department of Volksbank Lüneburg. That was my first touchpoint with financial communications. But I also find the topic interesting in my private life. I think everyone should engage with it, especially women, given the issues of poverty in old age and the gender pay gap. When I work with topics such as stock markets and investments at work, it often helps me with my personal finances as well.
What tasks at redRobin are you most looking forward to?
Planning content for social media. I love bringing a concept to life. And these days, no company can avoid social media if it wants to reach its target group. All social and age groups are now represented there. The other day, there was a granny in front of me on the bus who was updating her Instagram feed – it blew my mind. Everyone has at least one social media platform that they use, whether it's X, Instagram or TikTok.
As a creative person: What's your secret tip when ideas just won't flow?
I don't know that at all (laughs). No, seriously. I like to go to Pinterest or Canva. It's great for coming up with new ideas, especially for graphic topics. And for content-related things, I just google and now there's also ChatGPT and Co.
What do you do in your free time?
Reading and gaming. I'm a huge fan of fantasy books – they have to be really good, with dragon slaying and stuff. My favourite book, for example, is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. And when it comes to gaming, it has to be cozy games, something to relax to, like The Sims or Stardew Valley.
Thank you for the interview, Antonia – and welcome to the team once again.
